Drawn from a diverse collection of field recordings and musical sketches over a two-year period, Intra-commute pieces together and superimposes sounds of transit, radio, music, conversation, and events from Doha, Dubai, Mumbai, Amman, and London into an introverted narrative structure. Supra-commute takes these elements and reconstructs them into musical forms.

As well as working on a new piece for the Safina Radio Project, these earlier works by Karim Sultan tie into the project’s overarching themes of displacement, diaspora, borders and surveillance.

 

Originally commissioned as part of the Campus Art Dubai programme
